What is a skills assessment?
Assessments are when you, your employer, or your potential employer pay to have you “tested” in certain skill areas to determine your current level of skills.
The abilities to learn, listen, communicate, work in teams, and solve problems are important assets for any worker, regardless of career choice. WorkKeys® assessments measure these skills in three key areas:
Communication - Business Writing, Listening, Reading for Information, Writing
Problem Solving - Applied Mathematics, Applied Technology, Locating Information, Observation
Interpersonal Skills - Teamwork
How will an assessment help me?
As a job seeker, you want to put your best foot forward. Many area employers want to know your WorkKeys® skill levels prior to hiring you. A WorkKeys® certification card will immediately describe your level of skills to an employer when you interview or apply for work.
Prior to taking the tests, it is recommended, but not required, that you visit an SC Works Center, technical college or other location where Keytrain or WIN tutorials are available for free. By utilizing these tools, you will get a good idea of how you will score on the WorkKeys® assessments, but more importantly, on which testing areas you may want to concentrate your study time.
